The White House Conference on aging has started. "Older Americans are calling for a shift in the way we think and talk about aging. Rather than focusing on the limitations of aging, older adults across the nation want to focus instead on the opportunities of aging.

Healthy Aging: As boomers grow in numbers the shift from thinking about aging is focusing on the opportunities of aging instead of limitations. Older adults are seeking ways to maximize their physical, mental, and social well-being to remain independent and active as they age.

Physical Exercise: We all know it, exercise improves lives and increases optimal well being.

Nutrition: "What's on your plate" program helping to re-set your portions and healthier choices.

Managing Chronic Conditions: Health initiatives are focusing on what can we do to minimize cost factors when caring and or diagnosed

Preventing Injury: Falls are the leading cause of injuries. Look for more screening and community intervention programs.

Optimizing Cognitive and Behavioral Health: look for the "Brain Health Initiative."
