Elder Care Training and Education

In addition to our case management services we are offering family and elder care giver training classes located in Marin County, San Anselmo, CA.  Classroom experience includes computer availability, hands on experience, and support. Our philosophy encompasses professionalism, accountability, and a unique approach for all those who are involved in elder care.

All Care Solutions for Elders Trainers are RNs with a Background in Teaching and Elder Care

Our RN staff have been practicing in the field of gerontology for over 25 years.

Pam Osborn RN, director of the Stockstill House in West Marin (www.wmss.org) has been a leader in developing curriculum in personal care aide/ home care attendant programs.

Tina Cheplick RN, Principal of Care Solutions for Elders recognized the need for certification for this level of care and has developed the adult centered learning approach classroom. As registered nurses we recognize the importance of training, support and the role of the care giver.

Classes that are available are:

Professional Certification:

Personal Assistant Care Certificate Program (PCA): Both for family and professional caregivers, the PCA Certificate Program is a 40-hour online class with 8 hours of hands-on skills lab.  Learn best practices to enhance your caregiving and profession.  Course includes foundations of care, care of the elderly from a systems approach, emergency care, the nuts and bolts of caregiving, providing personal care, and crucial skills in caregiving.  Orientation to this program is required; attendees must register in advance.

Family and Community Education - Saturday 2-Hour Classes:

Care Solutions for Elders offers family and community members classes in dementia care and basic care giver skills.  These are two-hour classes held on Saturdays in our San Anselmo, California office.  Call us at (415) 456-3439 for our schedule or to sign up. Cost:  $50.00

Dementia Care: Obtain a greater understanding of dementia, the challenging behaviors and learn practical dementia-care skills.  This course covers the CARES approach which will give you the competence and confidence in care, ultimately creating a better life for you and your loved one.

Care Giving Basic Skills: This course focuses on essential home care skills that include proper body mechanic principals, full preventive care and care giver wellness.
